Conditions of entry – illustration competition

Overview

Open to students in Years 3-4 and 5-6.
Students are asked to submit an illustration for one of the selected stories from the 2026 Tell Me a Story writing competition.
Selected stories for illustrating will be sent to schools after reviewing has concluded.
Selected artworks will be published in the 2026 Tell Me a Story competition book.

When a student enters this competition, it is assumed that the parent or caregiver consents to the student’s work being included for publication in the Tell Me a Story competition book.
Before illustrating, students should read the story they wish to illustrate, as the work must reflect a significant character or setting from the story.
Illustrations can be on A4 or A3 sized paper, either landscape or portrait format. The artwork can be in any medium, in colour or black and white. Collage and three dimensional works are acceptable.
Entries open from 26 August 2026.
Illustrations to be submitted NO LATER THAN 19 September 2026.
Multiple entries to be submitted in one sealed envelope.
Please include the following important information on the back of the artwork
- Student name
- School
- Year at school
- The name of the story illustrated.
